In the last few days, the number of hummingbirds in the yard has gone up dramatically, with predictable results. We now have at least two males, a large female (perhaps our old female who I thought was gone?), and one very small female, and they all fly around and twit at each other non-stop. When they're not sucking down nectar at the feeder, of course.
The small female will let me stand very close to her, but flies off when I turn on the camera. I was just lucky I had the camera on and ready when this male sat down for a sip.
It's really interesting to watch them interact with each other, especially the aerial warfare. On the other hand, it would probably be a good idea to get another feeder if I don't want a tragedy on my hands.
