Pink Flowers and Burnt Weeds

Here's the reality check time on the weed burner: you need to keep at it. Unlike glyphosate, weeds can grow back and will, and you need to keep knocking them down until they give up. Here's my test patch in the back yard:

The weeds came back

Of course, it depends on the weeds. See how well the torch worked in the Fern Walk? The only reason it didn't get some of those patches is that they were too close to the plants I wanted to keep. I'm going to go back through and hand-weed and maybe use a smaller torch for detailing.

And of course, the oxalis is springing back, too. One of my tasks for this month is to clear out that junk there and just burn the stuff to the ground. That should set it back a bit.

In the meantime, the freesias are going nuts, and the peaches and nectarines have burst into bloom. I'm going to let them set fruit this year, though I will be thinning it.

PS - we've been having some server trouble. Sorry for the spotty onlineness.
