Dining Room Walls

Today they framed up the dining room walls.

It's a little hard to follow, but here are three views of the back of the house:

Dining room viewed from the kitchen

This is looking backwards from the new kitchen into the dining room. That big header there is over the large entrance to the dining room (there will be a pocket door there).

Looking from the back entrance to the kitchen

This is actually the kitchen, where the ceiling joists are starting to go in. I dropped by the house to leave some plans showing where I want the various recessed lights to go, which will help with framing.

Dining room facing the back yard

And standing in the dining room looking towards the back yard. I am so looking forward to having this view all the time. Minus the scaffolding right in front of me, of course, and plus some walls and a ceiling.

When is the work scheduled to be completed? How are the animals liking their temporary home?

The overall project is probably going to be a year. We are hoping to be able to move back in before that. The dogs like the rental house OK, but prefer their own house and yard when we bring them over. The cats love the rental house because there are a lot of birds (the old naval base housing is spread further apart, more parklike, and there are more functional windows).

The chickens have been visiting a neighbor and have pretty much destroyed their yard, but they will be coming back soon.

The dining room will be fantastic when you're finished! Are there any photos of the completed rooms thus far?
